This pair of stools or hassocks comes in a wooden frame and upholstered seat. Originally made for the Basia Gingold Residence in Los Angeles. Rare objects by RM Schindler from 1943. RM Schindler studied with Otto Wagner and Adolf Loos in Vienna before moving to the USA in 1914 and working for Frank Lloyd Wrights. Today Schindler is seen as a pioneer of Californian modernism and, like Wright, for him architecture is seen as an organism that unites everything into an architectural whole. His furniture designs also follow this principle.
