Modern daybed by French designer Pierre Chapo from the 1960s. The bed features the handcrafted joints that woodworker Chapo is known for. The daybed is in perfect condition, just as upholstery and fabric. Manufactured by Pierre Chapo. His love for woodwork originated in meeting a shipbuilder, making him study architecture in Paris. He later refined his skills in working preferably with oak, elm, ash and teak combining traditional working technique with contemporary design. Gallery Chapo was established together with his wife in 1958, stocking furniture by artists and craftsmen, among others Isamu Noguchi, who does a similar organic style, as does George Nakashima.
