Set of four inonic nesting tables made out of black lacquered stained wood on chromium-plated steel base. The set is designed by the inventor of modern steel tube furniture, Marcel Breuer. Manufactured by Thonet. The architecture and design icon teached carpentry at the Bauhaus Dessau after his studies there in 1925. Followed by swift success through the pioneering steel tube furniture, his firm Standard-Möbel was soon taken over by Thonet. By recommendation of Walter Gropius he was appointed professor of Architecture in Harvard before sharing an architecture studio with him. Among other prestigious projects, the Whitney Museum of American Art is a milestone in his architectural work. Erich Dieckmann and Florence Knoll share the same pioneering aesthetic as Breuer.
