Attached to the distinctive trapezoidal base form of Brazilian jacaranda is a fishing net-like nylon mesh that supports the leather cushions. The so-called Captain's Chair designed by Jean Gillon promises a unique, comfortable seating experience and is intended to be reminiscent of the fishermen on their rafts in northeastern Brazil. Manufactured by Wood Art. Jean Gillon studied Architecture and Fine Arts at the National University in his country of origin, Rumania. To refine his techniques he upskilled himself in Vienna and Leeds, lecturing later on at the latter. He simultaneously produced inside interior architecture, fine arts and design after moving to São Paulo in the 1950s. Gillons eye-catching designs resemble the ones of Sergio Rodrigues, Joachim Ferreiro, Jose Janine Caldas, Martin Eisler or Carlo Hauer.
