Janine Abraham / Dirk Jan Rol

This pair of eclectic basketware lounge chairs from 1955 is designed by Janine Abraham and Dirk Jan Rol. In excellent original condition, the elegant basket seat shell is held by black lacquered steel frame. Manufactured by Edition Rougier. In 1958, their aluminium, wooden and wicker furniture won their second prize at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs and their Soleil armchair the gold medal at the World Exhibition in Brussels. The duo was able to bring their specific, different qualities to the table that made up a fruitful cooperation. The resulting pieces resemble Michel Mortier or Joseph-André Motte at times.
