Isamu Noguchi

Beautiful pair of rare floor lamps by Isamu Noguchi. The shade is made out of fine paper followed by a bamboo stem ends on a iron base. In the 1940s and 1950s, Noguchi's best-known furniture designs were created for Herman Miller and Knoll International. During a stay in Japan in 1951, the Asian lamps made of paper and bamboo aroused Noguchi's enthusiasm. Using traditional manufacturing techniques, he created new shapes, replacing candles with electric light bulbs, light sculptures for everyday use.
