A complete set of eight, four-piece sterling silver place settings in the Diamond pattern by Gio Ponti for Reed and Barton, 1950s. Together with original storage box. From 1930 Gio Ponti designed lamps and furniture for Fontana and in 1932 became head of the subsidiary FontanaArte together with Pietro Chiesa. Ponti was one of the founders of the important Milan Triennale and built the Denver Art Museum. Classics are his chair Superleggera for Cassina, his glasses and lamps for Venini or the coffee machine for La Pavoni. Together with Franco Albini and Ico Parisi, he had a decisive influence on the Italian design style of the 1950s.
