George Nakashima

An amazing series of a single lounge chair made of American walnut wood, handcrafted by George Nakashima himself.  The lightweight legs and frame combined with the generous seat and back cushions provide style and comfort. The style he developed combined traditional American and Japanese with modern elements and varied over time, whereas working with wood became a constant making him famous for the outstanding woodwork he did. Apart from the complex techniques and styles that influenced him American Studio furniture, Wharton Esherick and Sam Maloof show resemblences to his work.
