This design was conceived by Finn Juhl to be used as a bench and/or coffee table. The top surface is flanked by two solid brass strips that would have kept cushions in place but also guard against items on the surface falling off. Manufactured by Bovirke. The big Danish designer Juhl studied architecture, being early on hired by Vilhelm Lakritzen, the leading architecture studio in Danish modernism. He quickly aspired inside furniture design which he always made clear was learned autdidactically, reaching as far in influence as the US. His imprint on Danish design can not be understated, he not only had great influence on for example Peter Hvidt, Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen and Borge Mogensen, but also on Danish Designs growing popularity worldwide.
