This daybed was designed by German modernist Ferdinand Kramer in 1953 for Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, and has a wedge-shaped headrest that folds up into an armrest. The daybed is newly upholstered with high-quality fabric. Ferdinand Kramer was a German modernist who was chosen to develop new buildings and interior design for the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main until the mid-60s. Ernst May and him designed the New Frankfurt together. He designed many pieces for Thonet whose simple styles he favored, along with architect Adolf Loos.
