The two lounge chairs by Erich Dieckmann from 1928 are made out of solid oak in a decidedly clear design. The rectangular stand construction matches the newly upholstered seat with original fabric, the seatback is held by a steel tube. Manufactured by University of Applied Crafts in Weimar, Germany. Branded manufacturer's mark to underside. Dieckmann is one of the most important furniture designers from the Bauhaus which is underlined by the geometric shapes with almost square square or flat woods. Like Marcel Breuer he experimented with tubular steel. His designs are also reminiscent of design legend Mies van der Rohe.
