A stately and elegant wood and walnut desk having three drawers and two wooden roll-top compartments flanking a central writing surface with a flip-down back splash, floating on a spare, architectural rectilinear base. Manufactured by Dunbar. Wormleys collaboration with the company made him a household name for several decades. He was given a contract there under which he would produce two lines of furniture each year, one traditional and one modern. As such, his take on on modernity was a rootedness in historical influences with strikingly inventive breaches. His influence on US-postwar design can only be matched by names like T.H. Robsjohn Gibbings, Paul Mccobb or Estelle & Levine Laverne.
