Iconic LCW chair by famous Charles & Ray Eames. The unusual organic shape of the low chair shows their innovative use of lumber-core plywood. Manufactured by Herman Miller. It dates back to the famous designer couples' early experiments with three-dimensional lumber-core plywood deformation. Through their lifetime, they have contributed to the development of US post-war design. In 1940, together with colleague and friend Eero Saarinen, they won the MoMA Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition. As with Saarinen, the close and interchanging lifelong relationship between fellow industrial designer George Nelson is clearly visible in their work, which seized to become as relevant as the work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
