ESU shelf 400. This piece is in exceptionally good condition. All parts original and manufacturing mark on the back. Storage furniture by famous Charles and Ray Eames with five drawers in the middle section. The side and back panels are in the coveted primary color combination of red, blue, gray, white, yellow and black. A rare piece in color combination, shape and especially condition. Manufactured by Herman Miller. Ray Eames and her husband Charles significantly have contributed to the development of US post-war design. In 1940 together with colleague and friend Eero Saarinen they won the MoMA Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition. As with Saarinen, the close and interchanging lifelong relationship between fellow industrial designer George Nelson and Charles Eames is visible in their work.
