Iconic set of DCW chairs by famous Charles & Ray Eames. The unusual organic shape of the dining chairs shows Charles & Ray Eames innovative use of lumber-core plywood. Manufactured by Herman Miller. It dates back to the famous designer couples' early experiments with three-dimensional lumber-core plywood deformation. Through their lifetime, they have contributed gravely to the development of US post-war design. In 1940, together with colleague and friend Eero Saarinen, they won the MoMA Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition. As with Saarinen, the close and interchanging lifelong relationship between fellow industrial designer George Nelson is clearly visible in their work, which seized to become as relevant as the work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
