The so called 'Hunting Chair' was designed by Børge Mogensen in 1950. This example was Mogensen´s first work with an exposed wooden frame and saddle leather. The seat is easy adjustable with solid brass buckles. Manufactured by Fredericia Furniture. Mid-century legend Borge Mogensen distinguished himself from the striking designs of his peers Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl and Arne Jacobsen through a rootedness in traditional values of craftsmanship and honesty of materials. While simplicity, durability and comfort - in short functionality - where most important to him he shared the aesthetical sensibilities of his most forward-looking colleagues. The spare geometries and lushly figured woods equal Mies van der Rohe and disciple Florence Knoll, differentiated only by a tendency to chrome steel for the frames and legs of their pieces. Later chairs display the same hefty construction and appreciation of natural materials seen in the work of Charlotte Perriand and Sergio Rodrigues.
