A delightful pair of side tables designed by Aldo Tura with drawings by Italian Piero Fornasetti. The goatskin top has a beautiful pattern and grain, highlighted by the smooth, high-gloss lacquer finish. An experimental furniture designer, Turas was mainly involved in the handcrafted production of tables, cabinets and lamps from the 1930s onwards, before opening his own furniture factory near Milan. Like Piero Fornasetti, he mixed Art Deco and Art Nouveau with minimalist design. In the post-war years he countered the trend towards mass production by remaining faithful to traditional craftsmanship, which is why all his pieces are of exceptional quality and he uses unusual and precious materials.
