Kai Kristiansen was born in 1929 and sold his products during the golden age of modernism. He was trained at Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakaemi in Copenhagen and until 1950 worked with famous cabinetmaker Haare Klint as carpenter trainee, before opening his own workshop in 1955 with Schou Andersen, with whom he designed the famous #42 dining chair. His collection of chairs, tables and sideboards is characterized by straight-lined teakwood and rosewood. In the late 1960s he organized many regional and Scandinavian furniture trade fairs. 1966 - 1970 Kristiansen was the driving force behind the Scandinavian furniture trade fair. In this time he also worked with Magnus Lesen on the series of sofas and chairs #121.
