Very delicate leaf-shaped wooden dish made of birch plywood, reminiscent of eminent Tapio Wirkkala. The grain, which is imitated on a leaf, gives the bowl a beautiful appearance. Wirkkala was a Finnish designer and sculptor and a leading figure of post-war European design. His contributions include glasses for Venini and a fruitful cooperation with Rosenthal. The two-coloured wood rings on the laminated plywood dish emphasize its shell-like shape, combining the at-once manmade and natural qualities of plywood with an organic inspiration. The playful lines match the plywood’s layers by laminate cut into round-edged shapes that recall leaves or shells. Wirkkalas work can be linked to Finn Juhl.
